Sevilla Expo 1992

Before my "last" year of architecture studies I went to the world expo in Sevilla. The last big expo in Europe. It was the time that "spectacular" and starchitecture became actual again. Europe was fully emerging out of the economic crisis and still in the very positive momentum after the fall of the iron curtain just a few years before. I remember it being very hot and crowded, like all expo's probably are. Long lines which I tackled by asking if I could make drawing somewhere in front, of a building. So after 20' of drawing I could make it rather fast inside, and it is a great way to get to know people from all over the world as well.

I first went to the Finish pavilion, my favorite of the expo, where I tried to capture the darkness with pencil on black paper

Next one was Denmark, in available darkness as well. At the time multimedia was translated in slides. The beamer had to be invented and internet was still very much of a concept.

Two times "la cartuja" some very nice structures I fell in love with. A perfect point of quietness within the hassle of the expo.

The French pavilion with the amazing roof, I rather liked it.

The British, very wet outside, cool inside, you can see the German enterprise in the background, and a separate detail below, I just liked this one without the rigid structures surrounding it:

Norway. The watercolor was done twice, the first (and best...) I gave to a very kind stewardess who liked it as a souvenir.
